Some meditators have suggested that it's too late to save the planet, so we should focus on our own spiritual salvation. Zen priest Kritee discusses the concept of "planetary hospice."

Planetary hospice is such an interesting concept, thank you for this.

As a climate scientist you also know, that the arctic ice melting and also the ice on greenland melting itself would have a devastating effect on our costal cities. The oceans are massive, you can effectively compare it to throwing a small icecube into an olympic swimming pool, the effect will be neglectible. The sea levels will rise mostly due to the temperature getting warmer which will cause the water molecules to expand the space in between them slightly for each degree, which in return causes the water to take in more space, similarly to iron when you warm it up it expands slightly, which can have massive effects. Also the water streams in the ocean, such as the gulf stream will stop or have inhibited flow due to the warming effect, which will cause water backstops in certain regions in which the water level will then rise more than in other regions, especially coastlines in north America, India, China and the entire Pacific region will be effected by this process.
Realistically speaking we are too late to save the planet from climate change. We can either adapt to it, or try to reverse it. Adaption is what we will automatically do, our species is best at that. Other lifeforms cannot and will die out... We can only save them and the planet as we know it now in 2 known ways:
#1 Filter CO2 out of the air, methods have been proposed, they are expensive and inefficient but in the long term they can help.
#2 Control solar radiation that reaches our planet. We can build massive mirrors in space that will block very little of the sunlight that reaches our planet to counteract any warming effect. Idealy the mirrors can fold and unfold so we can control how much sunlight we want to pass to control the climate and weather effectively (e.g. stop typhoon in formation process).
That is what we can do and I hope some climate activist will start spreading that word, so we can start finally going for the solutions.

We are already undergoing our extinction event, so it is no longer what might happen if we don’t do xyz. Too many tipping points have been crossed. The only real choice is whether we exit in panic or in love. An organised exit would be compassionate to ensure that a surviving specie continue after humans. Peace and joy to us all!

I am looking for updated information on the melting of the ice. Does anyone know where I can get truthful up to date research?

The planet's going nowhere, we are going to stay here and Buddha's teachings would flourish for the remaining 2400 years, after that who knows what might happen.

She commits appeal to authority fallacy. Just because you are a climate scientist doesn't mean you're right. There is no need to comment on the rest. And the planet is not going anywhere, people may disappear or adapt but life won't disappear so easily.
