Solved: Windows photo viewer can't open this picture because you don't have correct permission

Windows 10 photo viewer can't open this picture because you don't have correct permission to access the file location.

Nearly 2 years after you posted this, but THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO - I am currently dealing with moving to a new computer, and having to sort out the disaster that became of my file management on my old one has been a nightmare with the admin permission thing on ALL the files moved from my old computer onto my external drive for the move over, and moving files around to better organise them (or organise them at all) on the new computer - every single one requires admin permission to move. This just made it 3X easier. THANK YOU!!!

Anybody that gets an Access Denied message - copy the FOLDER the images are in to your desktop - you will get a prompt about permissions click accept. Once its copied delete the original folder and then move the one you copied back to its original location. This fixed the permissions for me

for some reason i didnt work for me.. before i did all these... the contents were moved to a new folder already maybe i should do an additional step?

I am using windows 8.1 and photo viewer is acting weird opens most of the photos but for some it says "unable to display picture because there might not be enough memory available" i tried going to color settings as advised on other sites but could not delete the settings i only checked the box to use my settings , also tried to press window+R key type cleanmgr and enter and cleaned all the error dumps and stuff and after restarting the computer still got the same "unable to display picture because there might not be enough memory available" i asked a friend of mine to download the same pictures and see if he can open them he said everything opens without problems on his computer. is there anything else i can try ?

I get an error when trying to Apply the changes in time 0:55 . (The error is this: "Failed to enumerate objects in the container. Access is denied".) What should I do? help me.

I used Python to do this with a short program that rewrites the image so you can view it.

Windows 11 this didn't fix anything... And there are far more profiles, they duplicate it seems in the permissions box after the security.
It shows that I have full control as I did it for the whole folder, but it still keeps popping up on my picture's screen that I don't have permission to view the image. Despite letting me do everything with it from viewing to rotating, etc.

Followed the method, could open jpg but can't open HEIF/HEIC on Photo Viewer. While in File Explorer, all thumbnails can be displayed but when HEIF photo is being clicked and default Photo app is opening the photo, the photo is displayed in a blurry low-res image. I've installed HEIC codec from Windows Store.

it appears that you don't have permission to view this file. check the permissions and try again.

In windows 10 the dialogue boxes don't have the same options. Still can't open emailed photos.
