Name a stick "Cigarette."
Make the max stack size 500.
Make it consumable.
Make the eating time 5 seconds.
Make the animation the bow one.
Make the sound that of fire.
Give yourself 500 cigarettes.
Smoke 500 cigarettes.
Repeat.

Hi Phoenix,
The ability to eat any item or block was actually added during the snapshots for 1.20.5, the Armored Paws Drop. 24w34a just changed it to only require a single empty component, instead of needing to also specify the nutritional and saturational(?) value of the food using the "[minecraft:food]" component.

If you combine "[minecraft:consumable]" with "[minecraft:food]", and then apply a texture pack with some custom model data, and sprinkle in some custom recipes with a data pack, you can essentially add any food to the game in less than 10 minutes.
Add advancements to that data pack and you've basically made a mod.

You can`t hold more items with bundles, but you can hold more types of items, which solves, in my opinion, THE biggest earlygame trouble, where you hold tons of different items you want to save, but even a single item uses a whole stack.
You can potentially TRIPLE your amount of inventory slots with ONLY ONE bundle, which cost is almost zero rn.

Fun fact: you can also edit what the item turns into when you consume it (like how potions turn to bottles and stew turns into bowls)

You can make items act like music discs
And you can make heads play custom note-block sounds

2:24 this “change” already existed before the snapshot. There is a food data component that, when present on an item, makes it so you can eat it. What was added in this snapshot, is an improvement to that system. Now you can have dirt that can be eaten into swords, or golden apples that give you every effect in the game, which wasn’t possible before this snapshot

This eating change is going to be awesome for plugins and datapacks, if you set the sound to silent and then make the duration effectively infinite you can do stuff like adding sword blocking to your server in vanilla
