Steam / Ubisoft Authentication Error [FIX] 2023

Hey guys!
This video shows one of the many ways to fix the errors that may occur when trying to launch an Ubisoft game via Steam.

If this video did not help with your issue I recommend trying to contact Ubisoft support.
OR
Going into Ubisoft Connect, your Account, then unlinking and relinking your Steam.

There are many different causes to this authentication issue and confusion.
Some are user based, some are because of updates, etc..

To clarify,

The "there was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product" error *most likely* stems from failing to sign in with the correct account via Ubisoft connect.
Your Steam, at one point and time, was most likely connected to a different Ubisoft email. This is a result of Ubisoft games using a separate launcher from Steam.


If you are not aware of any possible emails that your game could be connected to, then you need to contact Ubisoft support to see if they can switch it back to the proper account.
However, as with my experience with them, it is very difficult to do so.

I swear to God Ubisoft has one of the shittiest signings of all time I troubleshoot it for different things and it didn’t work as I was about to punch my monitor I turn off my computer turn it on and I don’t even sign in anymore and it puts me in the game Ubisoft do better

Had an ISP outage while gaming and I went to sleep, the next day I couldnt start my game, getting the same authentication problem message. It wasnt the false login though, I double checked both my Steam and my Ubi-Connect were on the right accounts, but a sync error of sort, most likely caused by said ISP outage. Doing the steam file verification forced the system to do another cloud sync, which worked and restored the game for me.

i’m 100% signed into my correct ubi, yet siege doesn’t pop up. i’m trying to link my main console acc to my pc.

I've done all of this and nothing is working, I checked my ubisoft connect account and it turns out I wasn't using the right one so I switched to it, then I verified my game files, clicked launch, and it did the thing where it starts the launch and then just suddenly stops.

I used my right email and still did not work. They just kept sending me verification codes.
Ubisoft sucks bro (and always did)

Hey so supposedly this is there way of saying nopee, connect it through either your xbox app or playstation account in the app on your pc. Once you click a game it should give you an option to connect it by usually where you install, for me for instance I had to go on my xbox app on my pc then search up the game and it showed for honor which was the game I wanted to download and play with all of my saved files already but steam wasn’t letting me because of ownership that ubisoft first connects too so I ended up seeing by the install option a connect pc to ubisoft install on the xbox app and thats how I ended up playing for honor with all of my saved files from my xbox. Idk why it’s so difficult… now I had to go through the process of reinstalling the game all over again.

I had the same issue- instead of my main Ubisoft account, I forget and played far cry 6 in my second account, how can I move it from the second account to the main account. please suggest an option. I bought far cry 6 on Stream.
