My Profile:

I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

I've been fishing for over 60 years so many of your tips are things that I've already picked up. But then there are a small percentage such as this tip that are something I never thought of and I think is excellent. I use rattles in a lot of my baits and and this is something that will definitely be tried in some of the Mercury water I fish . Thanks for the tip

I just put a crappie rattle(small and slender) directly into my bait.Used it for years and it's magical especially for bed fishing, two foot vis or less and smallies at night.👍

That's a cool idea. I can use that when I dropshot at my clear water lake and when I "Powershot" at my grassy lake.

Years ago when drop shot 1st got hot I was using it in dirty shallow water with really big baits in heavy brush and man it made me a believer.

This also works great on a Texas rig! Put a bead between the hook and the weight. It's a must for night fishing.

Interesting concept Matt. The drop shot is definitely a confidence lure for me, so this is worth a try. Thanks man. ✌🏻🎣

Great video! Was doing this last season with the Tokyo Rig in dirty water and night fishing wish some good success. Really the only thing I've found that rig useful for.

I have ton confidence in drop shots. I fish them I clean, dirty whatever. I don't fish them vertical. I cast & retrieve them, alot drop swimming, swimbaits & worms, fast, slow or just shaking it. I guess I use a power shot as u would call it. I really like this mod, never seen it before. I will absolutely b trying it.

I do that as well and use the old brass and glass. I also do this on the Tokyo rig as well

Great tip Matt, I love to add sound when its necessary and never thought of that for this application, will give it a try.

Great tip! definitely one of those Homer Simpson "Doh!" moments, where you think "So obvious! why didn't I think of that??". Sort of like a Carolina Rig, but with the bait and the weight reversed.

Matt just using tungsten weight makes sound on rock or gravel but maybe not as loud but sound underwater travels very far and is lounder. Take a watch set the alarm go to the end of a big swimming pool have someone throw the water proof watch in at the time the alarm goes off and go under water and you can hear it very very loud

Super good idea to change up in the grass .I’ve never been the most dedicated to a drop shot but this is much improved.

I’m still trying to catch a fish on your April 1st bait recommendation 🤣😉

Great tip Matt. This is very similar to how Don Iovino adapted his Doodle rig to a drop shot. He didn't use a drop shot weight. From the bottom up was a loop, a glass bead with a Peg-it and then a 3/16 brass weight. Same.principle. Keep them coming.
