First Look: Pioneer DJ rekordbox 6 Overview

We explore the new features of Pioneer DJ's rekordbox 6 including the new Cloud Library Sync.

Honestly think cloud sync should be included and we shouldn't be asked to pay even more an elite subscription called "Creative" when it's not like pioneer is offering cloud storage or something (which you still have to pay on top), instead, it's part of the natural evolution of the software and something should have came long ago in their mobile but they never nailed it. I tried their past mobile apps and they are really mediocre at best, you can see why their reviews on the App Store are not good at all and reason I don't use them, never-mind paying a subscription.

Yet, Pioneers first try of Innovation in recent years, and they choose and charge a premium for it, cut rekordbox 5 and screw all the people how actually a paid their one-time licenses (Not happy). It seems like all Pioneer cares about nowadays is getting every penny out of our pocked.

Please Denon, keep pushing hard with the prime line-up!

I feel Denon can do much better than this if we support them buying their products. They deserve more recognition for what they are doing, as they also seem to care about us, and they don't cut any corners when it comes to giving us the best in technology, price, and value.

Thank you Pioneer for the old days, but I don't think you deserve my money anymore.

Who is going to be able to afford this right now with DJ subscriptions services with the situations we face?? most dj’s don’t know when they be working again let alone shell out for Rekordbox DJ service plans, I think you need to rethink bit there

Can't work out if I have to pay to use my DVS with version 6 - I have a DJM250mk2 which has hardware unlock (so no subscription needed) so hoping my DVS will still work

literally the reason why many users preferred rekordbox over Serato controllers were because you got rekordbox for free out of the box. It doesn't make sense anymore.

The problem with the cloud sync feature is that it relies on DropBox meaning that you’ll need to pay for 2 subscriptions.

If you own a Pioneer SB2 and don't want to pay then use a free open source program called "Mixxx". You can get mappings for other controllers as well. Since it's opensource it will always be free and the community driven spirit means that the program will be continued to be updated by people who are not driven by greed/profit.

What happens to my Lincense that I bought when I inicially bought the program..? do I loose it ? our does it give me more opcions ? I tried looking for the license on Rekordbox 6 but I cant seem to find it..

Just ordered a DDJ400, one of the selling points was "full rekordbox license". Any ideas what happens with that now? Will I still get a license for 5? Should I cancel the order and rethink?

Honestly I think this subscription model - like it is installed by PioneerDJ - is a slap in the face for many loyal users. The device list selected for "hardware unlock" is not(!) including the premium models of each series (eg. DJM 900 NXS, CDJ 2000 NXS, XDJ 1000mk2). The regular price for the "Core" subscription is too expensive (about what you paid for the RB DJ Performance license, but EACH YEAR). And as a funny side note, it seems they removed the Rekordbox 5 download page (404 error now) - not sure if that is even legal, depends on the license terms however.
I think this is not a smart move at this time, and it will make some users re-think their equipment strategy. That a x.0 version is not perfectly working in the beginning is expected, so I would not update until the inital hiccups got fixed.

Sorry Rekordbox. I’ll pass on the new update to version 6 and transition to back to DJ Pro w/Algoriddim or Virtual DJ.

Can anyone confirm if I export to usb from a laptop running latest recordbox, that it will work with the CDJ 2000 nxs controllers fine? Thanks. And in general the update looks cool, some nice new features and they wanna charge for the cloud feature which isn't a big deal. But I see it being a problem for users with older controllers that will be forced to upgrade or subscribe

< < WARNING > > New Rekordbox 6 also ENCRYPTS the database and removes XML export! It means that ALL your playlists and meta-data will be forever locked in RB. We all should care about our data and not become an hostage of a greedy vendor! In addition, RB5 will not recieve ANY more updates, no matter how much $$$ users have already payed for hardware and upgrades before. So happy I kept Serato DJ and changed to Denon DJ, killer combo.
