Finnair Trip Report flying from London Heathrow to Vienna (via Helsinki) onboard one Finnair A350 and an A320 on a lovely summer day.

A comfortable trip from London to Vienna with a connection at Helsinki airport, the hub of Finnair, onboard one A350 and an A320. This was my first time flying Finnair after the pandemic. I was pleasantly surprised by how they overcame their bad financial situation and returned to being a very nice option to fly with.

After an amazing planespotting session at Heathrow Terminal 3, we boarded the Finnair A350 that would take us to Helsinki. A flight on an A350 is always great... but if it is just a 2-hour flight, it becomes just perfect. We took off to the west and quickly made a 180° turn to start our route. We crossed the Northern Sea and overflew Denmark, just before entering Sweden. From there we flew in direct course to Helsinki, where we landed ahead of the scheduled time of arrival.

The connection at Helsinki airport was really easy. A quick passport control and we were at the departure gates looking for our A320 to Vienna. We boarded our A320 around 1 hour late as the plane arrived late. Later on, we knew the plane had the APU inoperative, and that would cause more delay. In the video, we'll talk a little about it. We landed around 1 hour late in Vienna after a nice flight over northern Europe.

About the catering service, Finnair offers water and juice included on tickets and a buy-on-board menu on European flights. On top of that, they offer a pre-order service that we used today on both flights. I missed some more elaborate meals... but all we got was tasty. More and more airlines are starting to offer pre-order service, which is good for the passengers (better quality food) and for the airlines (less expenses on non-sold food).

I'm from Poland and I have to say that idk why, but I love Helsinki Airport (probably my favorite). Its climate is just insane for me. I've been to for example Singapore, which is of course one of the best in the world, but still Helsinki Airport gives me always the best experience.

I also recently flew with Finnair for the first time. From Munich to Helsinki, also in the A350. I tried out the new business class and was really impressed with the hard product. The service was also great! The only strange thing was getting off. We docked at the non-Schengen area. But since we came from the Schengen area, we had to get off at the back and take the bus to the Schengen terminal.

¡Gracias por el informe detallado! It sounds they had announcements also in Swedish 15:34, the second official language in Finland. The captain (or FO?) on your flight from LHR sounded Swedish speaking, a familiar accent.
I have a soft spot for widebodies on short hauls, this summer season Finnair fly A350/A330 to LHR AMS and MUC. Next winter they'll use A350 on mid haul too, on HEL-LPA 1x daily.

I flew with Finnair from Toronto to Tallinn via Helsinki 12 years ago. The service was good, leg room adequate in economy.
