When Should I Start Looking at Colleges? - College Admissions 101

It's never too early to start looking at colleges! If you are interested in visiting a lot of colleges, summer is a great time to check out campuses and get a feel for different schools. This will help you narrow down your options to a handful of schools and then, in the fall of your senior year, you can attend open houses to meet students, learn more about programs, and decide where to apply.

It's never too early to start looking at colleges. If you want to start your very first year of high school, elementary school, we have students of all ages visiting our campus. And if you have a really long list of schools that you want to visit, a great time to do that would be over the summer where you get to just step foot on campus, see if it feels like home, see if it's a place where you want to be.

Once you start narrowing down your list of where you want to apply, then your senior year is a great time to go to open houses and the formal programs that campuses will hold. And you get to talk to academic departments and meet the students that are on campus and that way you're not going to 20 open houses but you're going to the ones that you really know you're interested in and want to apply to.
