When I was having huge issues with bullying, my mom told me that people's treatment of others is a reflection of themselves and not a reflection of you. As a 5th grader that made a big impact on me and from that day on, I mostly stopped being disturbed by the bullying. And once they realized that I didn't give much energy to them anymore in the way of anger or humiliation or defense the behavior of the other kids slowly subsided. It never stopped completely, because as an adult, I can confidently look back at childhood me and say that I WAS very weird, but it dissipated into the background and didn't really effect me anymore
