Samaritan Hospital Holds Honor Walk for Organ Donor

Samaritan Hospital held its first Honor Walk on August 21. The Honor Walk is a way for staff to show their support for an organ donor and his or her family during an incredibly difficult time. In this case, the donor was a 39 year old woman from Troy, New York. Staff lined the hallway in silent tribute as nurses and doctors transported the donor from the ICU to the operating room. The Honor Walk was coordinated with help from the Center for Donation and Transplant New York - Vermont.

Such a beautiful tribute. My 36 year old daughter passed away last year and she was an organ donor. I am very proud of her last selfless act.

What a beautiful gift to be able to save another person's life. I always make sure when I renew my license that I have the organ donor box checked. I have heard other people say that they don't because they are afraid that doctors won't try to save them if they know they are an organ done, which is rediculous and uneducated. An EMT or doctor isn't gonna give up on saving you if you are an organ donor.
I think everyone should check that box and give give someone else the greatest gift of all.. The gift if life.
I am praying for this family that maybe by doing this it will help them heal.
