A few years ago, I prayed for Jesus to break me free from pornography. He did, and I haven't watched any since. I actually have ZERO desire to even watch it. It was a miracle.

I used to think that we could manage our sin or addictions, or ‘keep them at bay, ’ but that only takes us so far. For example, I used to struggle with porn, but I surrendered it all to God and realized that there is nothing I can do or manage on my own. God is the one who takes care of all of that if we seek Him with a humble heart. I also loved what you said, Brother Allen, about the fear of God because, sometimes, we don’t like to admit it, but there are consequences to our sin.

I was addicted to alcohol and it had become an idol . The Holy Spirit convicted me to quit and I joined AA and turned my sobriety over to God and I’ve been sober for 5 months and living a pleasing life before God . Like AA says you can’t quit without God as your Big sponsor 😊

God will definitely allow you to experience consequences if sin behavior continues. I experienced this and is extremely painful and unpleasant, to put it mildly.

I had a HARD time admitting my addiction was not a disease. I LIKE the feeling I get. Yes I have physical comsequences when I try to quit, but I also don’t completely repent and give it to God. It’s not a disease problem, it’s a SIN problem. He WILL help me. I’m choosing to keep one foot in and one foot out in the world, knowingly sinning, altering my “feelings” and looking for JOY in the wrong place. Which makes me feel even MORE guilty because I KNOW. 😢

Not in all cases, but I think that most times, it comes down to lack of discipline. I told my guys from my men’s Bible study….
Adultery doesn’t mean that you don’t want your spouse. You may want your spouse, but you also want another person as well. Same with spiritual adultery (James 4:4). You want God, but you also want things in the world.
