It’s weird how the internet tries to glamorize Tourette’s syndrome. and with Billie they started making compilations of her having tic attacks.. acting as if it’s a funny joke when really it’s not. Billie injured herself a bunch of times bc of it and as she explained it the tic attacks are very painful and makes normal things harder than they have to be.

Someone in my high school/ secondary school has Tourette’s and she always tics and things and people always laugh at her and I don’t know if people realise tics actually hurt it’s so sad!

I have the same tic and I'll never forget my mom telling me to stop because I "looked crazy/people were going think I'm crazy when I was 9 or 10 years old. She didn't know they were tics and the time and has no memory of saying that. She still had no idea that what I do is tourettic/tics until I explained it to her recently, over a decade later.

disclaimer, just because you tic occasionally it doesn't mean you have tourette's. ticcing can be caused by a number of different things, and not always because you have tourettes.

I do feel her pain. It really sucks to have people not realise that this one thing you are doing is actually a tic. And yes, whilst some are funny, alot arent.

Its best to view peoples tics kinda like with a pinch of salt, unless youre close with the person and know they wouldnt mind you laughing at some of their tics.

Anyways, it varies from person to person. And im just glad Billie is just brave enough to talk about it. Its something I couldnt ever think about doing.

In my opinion, there isn’t enough awareness in children and syndromes like tourette’s. There was a time when I was ten years old, not five, not seven, ten. It’s not that old but it’s old enough to at least know what tourette’s is. I had a sleepover with a friend of mine who had a verbal tick and she kept doing it over and over and i didn’t understand what it was but i asked her to please stop. imagining what she must’ve felt like, being young, and most likely having no friends who understand why she made those ticks must’ve been horrible. i was a polite kid and even i asked her to stop. thinking about the probability of all the rude kids who didn’t understand and possibly harassed/made fun of her for it breaks my heart. i doesn’t need to be a lecture, there are so many things these days with cancel culture that everyone says we need to be more educated on. but i didn’t even hear about it once in school or in media. the concept of tics is not that hard for a kid to understand. I am only 17 now and i have well enough of an understanding of it as a teenager. it’s not rocket science.

I feel so bad for billie, I seen a vid of one of her concerts and she started having a bad tic episode in the middle of her song and she got so embarrassed she ran backstage then everyone started cheering for her to come bk out and showing alot of love to her to make her more comfortable and show that all of her fans supported her! Watching that vid made me shed a cpl tears cause i can't imagine how that felt to her and she has said that her tics are painful
