I couldn't get enough of this show when I was young. Very funny and entertaining, but it was also profound. One of my favourites. I can still sing along with "Gandhara", over 40 years later.

For anyone outside of the UK you cannot underestimate how big and popular this TV series was back in the early 80s.

I remember being in primary school and playing Monkey at break times with kids arguing over who was going to be who. Funnily, Tripitaka was always the favourite as she could control everyone with two fingers!!!

I'll never lose this show, and now 40 odd years later I have the full boxset and still watch it.

Watched this on friday evenings when i was 10 back in 1980, had tea, then cub scouts, making campfire sausages, gluing fingers together making airfix planes, and singing ging gang gooley songs and getting up to no good with my mates.. Best childhood days..Brings back a flood of memories.Brilliant
