Thank you so much for making videos explaining basic things with great detail. We beginners really need to understand all these concepts!

I was told to add a subdivision surface modifier and couldn't figure out how to apply them and found this really helpful video. Thanks for the tutorials!

Thank you for this very well-explained tutorial introduction to the subdivision surface modifier in Blender! I am currently taking a Blender tutorial course I purchased on another website, and I was confused about the subdivision surface modifier. Your video helped me understand what I didn't understand before, and I thank you. I will definately be checking your videos for help in the future. Keep up the great and helpful work!

Justin you are amazing at explaining all of this little details. Blender tools and technique make sense when I watch your video.

I love to use the subdivision surface modifier because you can change the resolution of your models after your done modeling it. I've heard some studios model everything exclusively as subdivision models because it's just so much better than traditional modeling. Also, it allows you to add displacement for different shaders, but that wouldn't be possible with normal models with n-gons. Subsurf modeling also allows you to make certain shapes much easier than if you were to use other traditional tools like beveling or profiles along curves. Great modifier, I want to see more of this quad modeling & subdivision surface modifier.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I finally know how to use that pesky SUBD... Creasing is exactly what I needed

I struggle using the subdivision surface modifier. To me especially when trying to make an exact reference, the subdivision surface modifier basically goes "nope you can't do that". I want to understand the workflow and the mindset while modelling with the subdivision surface modifier. Things like what to be careful of, what things to pay attention to, what stuff takes care of itself, and how to look at vertices that are no longer glued onto the model.

Amazing thanks alot with this explanation of subdivide. Does the computer still look at all the verts and not have to read all the extra subdivide? So a cube has 8 points and subdivide shows more but still shows the 8 points. I'm doing a lowpoly character and want to smooth out more so thinking of using subdivide but don't want it to slow performance once I duplicate the character to make more characters in same scene

Hello, does anyone know if it is possible to toggle subdivision surface when modeling? Like a shortcut?

Hi, question, how do you change the modifier from Cullen-Clarke to Simple? the new update moved the option so I'm a bit out of the loop

Is there anything similar to Subdivision modifier, but actually working in reverse, reducing the geometry? (Decimate modifier isn't the best option sometimes)

I'm between new and intermediate user, and this unfortunately doesn't address how to use the modifier on a selection, such as a group of faces or vertices, edges, etc, rather than an entire object.

When you create a subdivision what are all of those extra vertices that are shown? I noticed they disappear when you click apply. Is it like a temporary state before applying the change to your mesh?

Is there any way to select the individual subdivided faces like you can in Maya?
