Dipper may not have been the slickest, but he managed to make good memories with his crush, and didn't lose a friend when he confessed. That's more than some of us can say

I'm just glad that Wendy pretended she didn't notice. She showed she cared about Dipper's feelings and waited until he decided to be upfront about them, even if the whispering was a little creepy. She really is as cool as they all say.

Wendy's reaction to Dipper's confession was so realistic and considerate. She didn't like Dipper romantically but she didn't make fun of him or act as if it was weird and creepy. Even the way she phrased it "I'm too old for you" was so that it wasn't directly making Dipper feel bad. I liked that they stayed as friends because they definitely don't have a romantic dynamic at all.

Tbh a 12-13 year old boy having a crush on a 15-16 year old girl is pretty damn normal and adorkable in a way. I feel like almost every little boy has a crush on a girl who is a bit older than him. I've always loved the relationship between those two. Especially the hat switch at the end. That was my favorite moment between the two.

instead of saying "you're too young for me" she said "I'm too old for you"

All that awkwardness was worth it. She noticed him.

I really like how Wendy admits that she noticed all this stuff he said, but she didn’t say anything because she really cared about Dipper and didn’t wanna hurt his feelings or make him feel awkward. It really makes me like Wendy as a character a lot more

Also hot take: Wendy is my favorite character in the show. I like her just a little more then Dipper even thought he’s really awesome too. I can’t even tell how high Mabel is on that list because she goes from being best cute girl to an obnoxious brat every other episode.

Dipper: I’ve been laughing for too long

Amity: I’ve been talking for too long

That ending scene was already really funny, but it became beyond hilarious when you edited in all those flashbacks.

Also, Dipper is pretty brave for even having the courage to talk to Wendy after all those things he said. If it were me who said all those things and I learned she heard the entire time, I would have needed a few months to overcome my shame. (Not that I would ever be caught dead making such uncivilized side comments in the first place.)

I'm super glad this show never felt the need to put him with Wendy. Many other shows would've done that, or had some tacked on "where are they now? thing ten years later where they're married."

The way Wendy talks to dipper is so healthy. I need a Wendy in my life

At first, I thought Dipper falling in love with Wendy was kind of pointless. But when I looked back at it & realized what it was doing like talking about awkward crushes & stuff, I actually like it.
So yeah I RELATE to Dipper alot now especially Wendy.☺️

I was a theater kid in high school and college.
A key thing they say backstage is, "if you can see them, they can see you"...
Something I should have realized in middle school when I shamelessly stared at my crush.
I had confidence though because I always saw her and her friends look back at me and smile...
I later learned that they weren't doing so because she liked me, they were laughing and talking about how creepy I was being

Wendy is awesome for talking to him like that- she knew but didn't crush his feelings

When I was 16, my little brother was 12-13, I had a lot of his friends think I was really pretty. It was awkward but you just try and be nice and turn them down gently if they seriously approach it. Like Wendy, 10/10.

Let's be honest though, this show had THE BEST "impossible ship that will never happen" handled PERFECTLY.
The Writers Team and Alex Hirsch handled this way better than anyone else could've.
Just the right amount of fan service that was strictly just that, fan service. Never actually going to happen, they didn't give us any actual ideas and yet they still made it work and work well.
They stayed really good friends even after the whole plot and not sub plot of Into The Bunker being the final grand conclusion to this story. And they even brought it back as something for Dipper to be proud of and value more than an actual relationship with Wendy when he realized that in Mable Land, even if he had a chance, it wouldn't be genuine and just play into Bill's trap. And not only did he use that to break out of Bill's illusions but also to help free the others while also realizing the strength of the bond between him and his sister while also reconnecting with her.
Now THAT'S how you use a plot device!

I love how the characters act like real people. I always love when stories can do that

One of the strongest lessons in the show that is a grand example in this cartoon is the character dynamic between Dipper and Wendy.

Dipper thought Wendy was cool, but started having feeling towards her, which he would be awkward and embarrassed like any 12 year old who have feeling towards a girl he likes.

However, Wendy is such a chad when it comes to her friendship with Dipper, by not making him an embarrassment, hanging out with him and Mabel from time to time. Even if she knew that Dipper actually likes her likes her, he spilt his beans when he thought she died, but when he realized he was alive and after killing the shapeshifter, Dipper feels like a fool and was worried that Wendy would get mad at him.

However, she understands as they both own up and her reasoning on why they shouldn’t be a couple make sense, but does say he was the coolest friend she ever had, which is honestly fantastic.

I mean this rarely happens in a cartoon especially a kids cartoon that should be a great lesson for kids to show.

If you like someone, it’s fine, but if they say let’s just be friends, except it because trust me, friendships are much easier in middle school and high school than a relationship.

I just appreciate the episode “Into the Bunker” for tackling this in a more mature, calm, and serious way.

Hands down one of my favorite moments in the show.

He TRIED to be subtle. But he's 12. Of course he was bad at it
