🔥How to Steam and help Break in your Baseball Glove at Home! 🔥

Equipment needed-
1. Stock pot that has a raised steaming tray at bottom. (Normally used for steaming tamales 🙂 )
The glove sits on tray Not in water. Pot big enough to fit a baseball glove.

2. Electric burner (your stove can work for it) after water steams turn down burner to medium-high.

3. Glove mallet to help break in glove and glove conditioner. We recommend Oakwood leather conditioner or Rico leather conditioner.

Tips not in Video

1. Make sure the lid isn’t completely closed while glove is in steamer. We don’t want to cook the glove just steam it and get it hot enough to work the leather.

2. Patience with new gloves! Don’t expect this process to immediately make a new glove feel like an old glove. The steam and break in help but it’s not a substitute for using it daily for 3 weeks.

3. DON’T leave in steamer too long. It will ruin the glove. Do the process twice no more than 40 seconds or less. That’s it and break in the old fashion way for the rest of the time even if you could steam it again.

How do you fix a first base mitt if it hardens and shrinks due to over steaming?
