He rewrote Superman, one of the most iconic superheros, and he rewrote it to be accurate, that is amazing

DC: "Hey Neil! You want to be in a comic?"

Neil: "Ok, but first you have to change Superman lore"

I love the way Neil is able to describe scientific concepts in an understandable way

Making the extreme mystery and incomprehensible reality of the universe nearly normal, fathomable, and humorously. Love this guy.

Love it
Its so badass when logic is used in stories instead of just "its fiction who cares"

“Let this be henceforth the origin of Superman”

He contributed ideas that found their way from astrophysics into Superman canon. Pretty cool.

Like 12 years of college to get a physics degree... And Neil is still a nerd at heart. Love him

I love that Neil preserved the history of superman and built upon it, improved it with scientific accuracy rather than change it entirely

As a Superman fan, I absolutely loved this addition to his origin story as it made his arrival to Earth not only more scientifically feasible, but also far more interesting from a narrative standpoint.

From what I remember Krypton was destroyed by an engineering project gone wrong. Jor-El warned them it would be a disaster but they could not reconcile his methods and went ahead anyway. Seeing they would not listen both Jor-El and his brother Zor-El built a pair of small ships to carry their children to Earth, (they lacked time and funds to save the whole family) in stasis, the older girl was to take care of her baby cousin when they arrived but due to a worm hole Kal-El's ship arrived on Earth 23 years ahead of hers. Kryptons sun did not explode and in lore there was a second inhabited planet in the system that Krypton was often at war with. The people of that planet have similar powers to Kryptonians on Earth but the explosion of Krypton devastated their world reducing them to pre-spaceflight technology.

In my head I have superman between 30 and 40.
He's always drawn to be so mature looking and his physic looks like it took time to build too (despite good genes and farmer's life, I'm sure it's been hard to find stuff that actually can challenge him in order to build his muscles.
I thought he went to college and (probably) worked a couple of minimum wage jobs before he got to The Daily planet.
Yes all this is do-able and still be in his late 20's, but the way he acts and that down home farmer's wisdom and years of not lashing out emotionally (because he could accidentally kill someone if they were next to him and he didn't move slowly and carefully around) makes him seem older. He doesn't even laugh very often because a strong breath can cause damage. It's always smirks, gentle giggles, or he'll look down and let out a tiny breath of restrained laughter.

Neil is the man. A man of science, not debating Superman but actually having an engaging conversation about him 😂😂😂😂❤
