In this Microsoft Excel tutorial I'm going to teach you how to add an automatic timestamp by putting the date and time that a row was edited in a particular column. We're going to accomplish this using just a little bit of VBA.

Emily from Portland, Oregon (a Platinum Member) asks: I have a spreadsheet where I track my transactions which are usually payments to different vendors and accounts. Is there a way that I can automatically have the current date and time entered into the date column instead of having to manually type that in all the time?

Silver Members and up get access to an Extended Cut of this video. Members will learn some double-entry accounting and how to have a duplicate and opposite transaction created in the row below the credit account for the specified debit account.

Hi Richard, I like the new background of your video. Very bright. Thanks for your great tutorial. Thumb up 👍 from beginning class for the passionate instructor. Could you please teach us how to do the leave that employees are taking? Ex: there are different types of leave: sick, vacation, family, trainning, recertification, etc...and employees are working shifts starting & end at different hours. The working shift is scheduled for 8 hrs/per shift with 24 hrs operation. Thanks so much Richard for inspiring us to keep learning. You rock!

Hello Richard !, I was successful with your video but I had one problem when I copy lets say 3 rows and paste them down below I only get the date on the first row and the other 2 are empty although there is text in the target column ? Is there anything I can add so that it adds the date to every row that has a text in that column .

thank you for this video by the way this was absolutely well put together!!! thank you again

is there a way to adapt this to target a specific change in a cell - for example if I change the status of a cell to "Quoted" I want the column next to it to date stamp when that status changed to Quoted specifically. I don't want it to change for any other status I put in there.
