I have a President Lincoln II + and it is actually a very good radio. I do have mine expanded but you get to change modes so it can still be HAM bands only when you want it that way. I've made several contacts with this radio and always got great audio reports. It is in fact FCC certified however once you open it up that changes things obviously . I got mine when they were 249$ but they have since become more popular and went up in price. I highly recommend it. Lots of great features and a solid radio from President. 73.

Hello, I have the Anytone AT-5555 and the AT-5555n which I purchased from the UK.
Yes, they're both moded for frequency and not much else by a licensed Ham. Other than that they're both OEM.
I remain comfortable in the 11meter band. (26.8250 - 27.6550)
My radios are factory other than the bands.
Amateur radios are simply better built, like Rx and Tx filtering for quieter QSO's.
Paired with good coax and antenna the Anytone quality of electronics is really hard to surpass.
Ive been into 11meters since age eleven in the BSA and got my Merit Badge for Radiotelephone.

Hey, now that I'm old, I've gave consideration to getting my Tkt. Your videos are very persuasive. Especially with no code to learn.
Anyway, YES Anytone has good quality gear.
Thanks for the vids and knowledge.

My first time seeing them today when I was looking up these radios, but apparently there’s quite a few repeaters available on Amazon. It’d be interesting to see a video on.

Great video. One item that is about the same importance to me is the availability of a AA battery holder. This is a great option to have during a long term power outage.

One of the cool features of the GS-5B is it can scan local radio activity and identify the frequency. Pretty cool if someone is using one of those Rugged channels and you don't have it programmed. I keep mine in a go bag because it can be programmed via phone, is USB-C chargeable, and the frequency scan feature.

Thanks for all your content! I'm still studying for my license, but getting close to feeling confident to take the test.

The tidradio h3 is definitely one to mention, it has a lot of features for such budget friendly radio. Bluetooth, usb-c charging, usb-c programming, compact, am band, and more.

Hi, great video, you mentioned while talking about the President radio about part 97 allowing modifying and experimenting. Where in part 97 states that? Thanks for the help.

I’m partial to the Baofeng BF-F8HP. It was my first radio still works great and is a sturdy little radio. Needed an antenna upgrade. I can recommend the Nagoya 771. I live in the Pocono Mountains and have easily hit repeaters from outside the house that are 10 - 15 miles from my house. Great starter radio.

The baofeng dm-1701 is a good one. I would reccomend doing the open gd77 mod on it right away though. It gets you into dmr in the under $100 price range, and with the open gd77 mod it's fairly easy to program with lots of contacts and channels. You probably won't find a cheaper handheld that can do digital mode and analog on both 2m and 440.

I have the Anytone AT 5888UV2. It is a great radio. Also has removable head so you and have the control head on a mount and put the radio under the seat or in the back of your vehicle. I always get excellent audio reports and the receive is great. I run mine mobile. It also does out of the box work on GMRS. I know I know not "legal" but it is a nice alternative to the much more expensive Wouxon GMRS mobile radios.

I have 2 Baofengs, 1 Yaesu FT10, Anytone 778UV, IC 718, and a Radio Shack Dual Band Mobile (1996). The HT's are great for sitting in the garage and hit a repeater about 15 mile away and talk all over the county. The AnyTone will be installed in the car, the rest are in my room. I have had real good luck talking on the AnyTone. I probably have too many, radios but how many should one have?

I’ve worked a station in Bulgaria before on 10m using my G90. I’ve reached Ireland, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, and countless contacts all using my G90. It’s an excellent radio.

I'm new to radios. I have a couple Baofeng 17L's, the Baofeng AR152 and a btech GMRS pro. I like them all. But, i'm an idiot when it comes to HAM radio. You guys have taught me quite a bit.
Oh yeah, I've tried a few different antennas as well.

For my house I would buy a new or used 50w Japanese radio, but to carry in the car without a doubt a small anytone or btech from Amazon. Could you make a video of used movile radios? I have an ADI AR146 and it is really excellent for being a copy of Kenwood

I have a few basic ham radios but I’m ready to buy a higher end one. Between the ft5dr or Kenwood TH-D75, which would you recommend?

Nice video from HT up to the G90. I have a couple of them. Gotta love the G90. I own a G90, it’s a fun radio to own. Simple to use, works great with the XPA-125B amplifier.
