I underwent double jaw surgery in 2017 & trust me your face will not stay looking how it is now! I would say for even almost a year my face just had a "puffy" look, especially the area between my nose and mouth and my cheeks. My face now looks a lot more like it did prior to the surgery, but the underbite is just fixed. Also, my nose looked a lot different for the first year or so after the surgery (more upturned and puffy almost?), now it looks more like it used to. So don't stress! It won't look like that forever, it takes a long time to settle into what it's going to look that. I had that exact same "muppet" look! lol. You look great though!

You’re not ugly. I went through similar challenges. I didn’t have jaw surgery. I had 8 rounds of chemo and a stem cell transplant. However, through that process my whole look and my body changed. When I look at photos of myself before and now I look like a completely different person. I remember telling my mom that I felt like I was ugly or weird looking. She would always give the mom response and tell me I was handsome. For me it just took time. Although I still think I looked better before... I have grown to love who I am now. I realized that it wasn’t that I was ugly, I was just different. The image I had of myself in my head didn’t match what I saw in the mirror. It’s been 4 years now and I feel like I have come to know and like who I am today. The same will happen for you. Just give yourself time to adjust to the new you.

We’re always over critical of ourselves. Her “after” doesn’t look bad, we’re just so used to seeing ourselves in the mirror. The side profile you can see huge improvements.

I've had the same surgery in 2013. I was really scared, but when I woke up from surgery and I saw myself I cried of happiness. I looked so much like my sister.
I had the same process as you. After I think 9 months the swelling was gone and it started to feel like the new me.
Now 7 years later I still have a numb spot on my chin. But it's an little one so it's fine.
Wonderful, you shared your story. Thank you! ❤️ From the Netherlands

I had the same surgery and i can promise you it does take time and the swelling does take FOR.EVER! Not only that, the nerves take so long to fully recover. Probably a good year. I probably have 80/85% feeling in my lower lip and chin, but you do get used to it. As for loving your face, that takes time too. You have lived with your old face since forever. You have had your new face for 3 months! As they say, time is a great healer and when i look at old photos, I can not believe the way i used look. You are beautiful and will be even more beautiful when everything settles. Remember, it all takes TIME. Big love xxx

I had double jaw surgery when I was 15 in 2009 and OMG I was so self-conscious afterwards and felt like my peers were always staring when I went back to school. It took me about 6 months for all the swelling to diminish and for me to see the new face for REAL. I am a lot happier now with my corrected bite and feel a lot more confident in my smile. I truly hope the same will come to you as you continue to heal <3

“Check out my bite! My bite is killer” that was my favorite! Hell yes it is! Your profile is gorgeous and so are you!

Hi don’t worry it’s still swelling and your face will go back to normal at least 8 months but in 1-2 years definitely will go bsck to normal 🥰💓

I’m 6 weeks post op and I’ve been watching so many videos and everyone seemed to be having a much better recovery than me. Thank you so much for talking about how you miss pre op face, I’ve been struggling with that so much and I’ve felt so alone in that experience.

I am getting this surgery next year, and I just wanted to thank you for this video and your 9 month video. I'm both excited and scared because I'm so young and with my ADHD and depression, I have so little energy already. But your videos gave me hope that I'll be okay after. You give so many helpful tips and reminders, and this was beautifully made. I hope your healing is going well!

You are NOT ugly! I’m sure it’s such a huge shock to see your face change but I’m sure it will keep changing as you heal. Thank you for sharing and I wish you well as you continue to recover!

thanks so much for being so open! i had the same surgery for the same diagnosis early december and i’ve watched every single vlog of yours and it really helped me prepare! also just 1 month post op i’m even having the same concerns since the decrease in swelling has slowed so much but just trying to keep that long game of a 6 month to 1 year recovery in mind! appreciate you sharing so publicly your experience since, as you said, there’s a small amount of people that truly understand but for those that do it is so helpful and comforting!

I just got my double jaw surgery done in October as well! It's been about 2 and a half months for me and it's kind of reassuring/ comforting (?) to know that I'm not the only one with those concerns post-op. My upper lips are very stiff still, making it super awkward when I talk/eat and definitely still swollen. I think we just gotta be patient with our recovery! Thanks for sharing your experience 🤍

I’m so glad you’re better! You are such a strong person! It may not have been the best experience but it was worth it! Super happy for you!! Also, thank you for inspiring me to do YouTube!

In terms of the puffiness, I fully expect that after a year or so you will get your chiseled cheeks back. Your face went through a lot of trauma during the surgery and it takes a long time to heal. The lymphatic massages you have been doing are actually making temporary noticeable differences and so that is another indication for me that it is correctable with time.
