Mai pretty much orbits around Zuko, which makes her the weaker female character of the series. I like them together, but at least from what we got until Smoke and Shadows she cared way more about him than the opposite. I mean, he didn't even got her out of prison when he became Fire Lord, it was her uncle who did it and she was only there because she saved his ass hahahaha. It's implied that they'll both mature from Smoke and Shadows on. To the point where they're finally ready to have a strong relationship in which Zuko doesn't take her for granted and Mai finds balance between her personal needs and Zuko's personal space.

Zuko and Mai had their ups and downs, but they're a good couple.

I noticed something interesting.
When they are in the cave Aangs flame is a little bigger than Zukos
But in Book 3 it was Zukos who was slightly bigger.

Its kinda like Roku and Sozin.
As kids Sozin was better, but later Roku was more powerful
