I Found Love // Mai (+Zuko)

For most of my life, whenever I cared about something it was mocked, used against me, and/or taken away from me. I'm in a safer place now and I have learned to set up boundaries to ensure that what I care about is protected. This includes not giving unhealthy people in my life access to the things that I cherish.

It's been a hard road, and I really relate to Mai shutting herself off in order to survive. I was Ty Lee, but I was also Mai. When I became more like Mai, the people who knew me as Ty Lee couldn't understand why I was different. It took too much energy to continue acting like I was happy when I wasn't.

I am happy now, even if life isn't always perfect, and even if something happens to the things I care about, I know that it will be okay. I had to fall in love with myself in order to be truly happy.

So, the end of this video is not exactly happy, but it does show that standing up for what you care about and love is what makes you feel more like yourself. The fear of what others think or fear of what they may do to you no longer holds any power. It's better to love something than to fear something else. Love never fails.

I think Mai x Zuko is a great ship. A lot of people see them as toxic, but I think it works. Yes, they are similar in the way that they can both be pretty moody but they also do contrast in a way. Mai hides her emotions and can come across as boring or like she doesn’t care about anything. But Zuko shows his emotions; anger, sadness, happiness, even fear. So personally I think they work. Brilliantly edited video, I’m glad I found someone who also ships Zuko and Mai 😃
