DIY Aged Vessel | THRIFT FLIP | Simple and Easy

Hey friends! This DIY aged vessel was an incredible thrift flip and so simple and easy. I have been so inspired by the trash to treasure idea lately and thought it was the perfect vase to use for a faux pottery project. Because of using a hair dryer to speed up drying time, I was able to complete this project in just a couple hours.

Supplies Needed for this Project

Vessel or vase
Joint compound
Flat spray paint (color of your choice)
Matte paints (colors of your choice)
Damp paper towel

You can choose to rub some dirt over it at the end like I did if you want to.

Any questions on this project, ask me in the comments section!

One of the best tutorial I've seen on this topic. Thanks for the kitty fix as well. 🥰

Great work! I am going to copy your steps. One question: Can I mix the joint compound with Acrylic paint for the first layer?

Fabulous!! I wonder if a matte sealer would be good to keep the dirt intact?

I have watched several of your videos and the wet paper towel method was a game changer for me. It is very nerve wracking at first because when adding colors on top of the other colors you think what have I done lol. But thanks so much cuz it really helped me

I love that you added Eucalyptus greenery to this vase. Did you add the dry floral foam inside your vase for your greenery or are the stems just freely put inside?

It turned out amazing. My brain doesn’t do well with random, it likes more concrete. But I am trying to work outside of my box

Interesting. What materials are the joint compound & paints made of? I would think that would make a huge difference, for the psi compressive strength & adherence. I think some mixes could be good/ some bad, depending on composition of the materials.
