"That's why it's so important: it seperates us from them." - Bruce.

I have always loved that exchange, it's honestly one the best pieces of dialog that was ever written into a film, because it's short, yet makes a powerful statement.

Duccard is right though, compassion is indeed viewed as weakness to people who have none. Yet, Bruce is also right, because if you do not, or are not willing to show compassion, how are you any better than those that don't or won't do so?

I just noticed a few things:
The guard next to Ra's was distracted for a split second because Ra's took his primary sword. Bruce saw his distraction and knocked him out before he could reach his back sword. At the same time Bruce pushed the criminal off to safety just before facing off against Ra's al ghul. As Bruce pushed the criminal off to the side, Bruce didn't take his eyes off of Ra's and got into a fighting position simultaneously. Minus the camera cut to show the henchmen obey Ghul's orders to stand down, Bruce did all of this in a single second.

That one second highlights the incredible essence of Batman. He has the ability to think, analyze, and act in a situation far quicker than anyone else. Such an amazing attention to detail from Nolan.

The most Batman moment of all Batman movies. Here, Bruce knows criminals don't desereve to die because, if so, he wouldn't be different from them.

Nowadays kids would look at this and say it’s just a film I’ve seen movies like this all the time what they don’t know is that this is the golden age of movies and at the time period it was released the world was a truly happy place, the greatest decade on earth in my opinion
