IELTS Writing grading

The IELTS writing grading criteria consist of the following:

Task Response:
1. Do you write 250 words
2. Do you answer the topic
3. Do you cover all parts of the task

Coherence and Cohesion:
Coherence refers to your writing being easy to understand.
Cohesion refers to your essay having a logical structure. Paragraphs should focus on a clear topic and sentences should have logical connections.

Lexical Resource:
To score highly you must correctly use higher level words and pay attention to your word endings (s, ed). In addition, you should try to show a range of vocabulary. This means you should avoid repeating words too many times.

Grammatical Range:
To score highly you need to use a variety of sentence types (simple, compound, complex) and also avoid grammatical errors, such as with articles and prepositions.

I used your IELTS Writing Task pdf in preparation for my IELTS writing exam twice, and I got 7.5 and 7 on both occasions. I couldn't make 7.5 the second time because I changed the question I attempted in the middle of the exam. So, I was left with no time to properly complete the essay. Thanks so much for your help

I'm a native speaker, did well on all the other sections and was upset when I found I only got a 7 on the writing section. Now, I see why. I'll take a 7 to be honest. XD
