In our modern era, there is no doubt that social media plays a crucial role in each of our lives and one of the facts to support this idea is that people use social media to keep up with news. In this essay we are going to answer two main questions. Firstly, why people do this and secondly, is it a positive or negative trend? In my opinion the reason that people use social media as a tool to follow news is that it is easy to use and accurate respectively to other providers of news. On the other hand, I do believe that catching up with the news through social media is a positive trend and in following paragraph I am going to elaborate more about my opinion.
At first, social media has an enormous effect on our daily life. For instance, many of our free times goes to following our friends and our ideal people on social media to catch up with them through their own page. This means we are receiving many information about the people or the news that we care about based on the page that is related directly to the person or news provider that we care about, so we can claim that this feed that we receive or the news that we watch is more accurate to the one that we can expect from other news providers like webpages, TV shows or radio which is not directly connected to the subject or person that we are looking for to get the news about. On the other hand, following the news on social media is easy based on two factors. First, it is easy to search on social medias about the topic that we are interested in. Second, it is on our phones and the only thing that we need is to install an app and open an account which is almost free for most of the social media users.
Secondly, to support this fact that people tending to follow news in social media is a positive trend, I can claim that linked to my reasons for previous question, I believe so. I will elaborate more about this idea with pointing out two reasons more. First, accuracy of the news in this method is higher based on the close connection between the news provider which in social media’s case it is the person itself and secondly, I can argue the correctness of my opinion with mentioning that social media is always the first source of information about any disaster happening around the world. there had been studies about disasters happening around the world that even before any government website or news providers, there was always some tweets about them on twitter social media on the accounts of people wisdom to the disaster on the area, so I do believe that social media is one of the fastest way of receiving the news and that fact makes me believe that this trend is a positive trend of our time, since speed of receiving a news is important to me.
Putting everything in a nutshell, following to my reasons I do believe that people follow the news on social medias these days based on the high accuracy of the news on social medias versus other news providers and the high speed of the news spreading by social media is one of the other factors. The other reason that I think people use social media for this purpose is easiness of using it. Furthermore, I do believe that this is a positive trend because people can receive this news more directly in connected to the source of news and I have also can mention again the high accuracy and fast speed of receiving the news which is important to me as a follower of many social media’s accounts.

Hi there. The only question I have, is about penalty, that one may get because of writing, letvs say, less than 250 word for task 2. How crusial is it and how the penalty might affect the overall score of the whole task 2, if the remaining criteria all are fine? Thanks
