National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence and Filmmaker James Cameron has announced he will soon operate a one-man submarine 7 miles deep to the Pacific's Mariana Trench, the deepest point on earth. Cameron plans to spend as much as 6 hours on the ocean floor and will film and take specimens for scientific study.

Well, he just touched bottom a few minutes ago. Can't wait to see some footage. I've always liked his movies but really respect him for this. Not only has he made 72 dives including 12 to film Titanic, he designed the submersible he's in.

When is the film be released? - I honestly have to agree that he is one amazing man to go beyond the abyss: pressure on the submersible will be deathly, no matter how sophisticated sub technology has achieved awards. Few people would have the guts to go that far down if all they have done is dived the deep end of a swimming pool. Ignorance breeds fear and vise-versa, yet he is bringing a wealth of insight into a world that has no true exits.
