It's surreal to see Mr. Nargeolet here, knowing now that he perished in the Titan submersible... Truly a great loss for the deep-diving community. R.I.P.

What impresses me most about Titanic is that it was built by hand, using paper plans, without the technology we have today. To make something as complex as the Titanic is crazy to me

RIP Paul-Henri...Why did he, a man with experience and expertise, accept to set foot in Titan is a mystery to me...

James Cameron nailed it when he said that the story of Titanic is a black hole. I have been researching Titanic and maritime history in general for the last 35 years of my life and I am still as in love with it as I was when I was 6 years old and I became enamored with it. P.H. Nargeolet was a personal hero of mine, same of Dr. Robert Ballard.

RIP Paul-Henri Nargeolet. So sad that his passion for Titanic cost him his life.

I never grow tired of listening to James Cameron.

I used to be against removing anything from the titanic But with the rapid deterioration there's gonna be nothing left in a few decades I think it's time to recover everything possible So future generations can learn about the titanic

James cameron made a movie which made me obsessed with this ship. Any one else?

Pretty eerie hearing Paul-Henry Nargeolet talking about submersible technology and the danger of diving that deep.
Boggles my mind that he would willingly get into a cylindrical submersible made out of carbon fiber with titanium ends and an acrylic view port that wasn't rated for the depth titanic rests at, with a guy who's arrogance and narcissism were unmatched by anyone who has ever lived, responded to emails from people with more knowledge and experience warning him of how unsafe and dangerous the vessel he made was, pleading with him to do more tests so he doesn't get people killed by calling them fear mongers and accusing them of trying to gate keep the industry, someone who bragged to journalists about him breaking rules that were made to prevent arrogant narcissists from getting people killed, and someone who fired an engineer because he brought up his legitimate concerns about how unsafe the vessel was, then counter sued and lost against the engineer he fired when that engineer sued him for being wrongfully dismissed.

It's sad that someone whos been so important to the archeological, scientific and historical studies of titanic was lost because some idiot did the exact same thing that resulted in 1500+ lives being lost over 110 years ago. He convinced himself his vessel was "unsinkable"

A copy of Titanic should be built. People would be buying tickets like crazy. Can you imagine having the opportunity to spend a few days on that beauty? ❤️

A movie about the discovery of the Titanic would be very entertaining.

The fact that this was uploaded 10 days after his death is just scary. P.H. Nargeolet thought he had plenty more of these Titanic documentaries to do is the saddest thing I've seen since Robin Williams performance as Teddy Roosevelt in Night at the Museum 3. Rest in Peace and may you be speaking with those from the Titanic whose stories you help to tell.

It's kinda creepy to think that the occasional pairs of shoes that they come across around the wreckage is actually believed to have potentially been a spot where a body was when they went down with the ship.

We need to keep raising as much of Titanic as possible. In a few hundred years, there's going to be hardly anything left, and we're going to be kicking ourselves for not saving more. It doesn't help us remember what happened by allowing it all to get destroyed. "Resting place" for the victims? There won't be a resting place once it's all gone. Then we have nothing.

While I don’t dispute the preservation for history for future generations to learn and remember past mistakes, I can’t agree with those artifacts going to las vegas. Why not to new york or uk where it has more meaning and context. Kinda disgraceful to place it in a city that has no connection to its history.

For those who are asking why Paul-Henri Nargeolet would've set foot in the Titan, he loved the Titanic, he loved diving to the Titanic. He was essentially their tour guide on that trip and he has always accepted the risks of deep sea dives. I can't answer to why he trusted Stockton Rush or the Titan itself because anyone with knowledge of how those vessels are built and maintained knew and even warned Stockton Rush that a carbon fiber pressure hull would eventually fail, but he failed to heed any warnings and threw caution to the wind. P.H. had to have known that the vessel was not certified by any sanctioning body, but he went anyway. So yes, P.H. had to have known that there were extreme risks, but he went anyway. The Titan had made a number of dives down to the ocean floor in that area and even a couple of successful dives to Titanic itself, so I suppose he felt somewhat safe. This is an excerpt from Wikipedia on the Titan implosion:

Wreck expert Paul-Henri "P.H." Nargeolet, who was also onboard, told me he wasn't worried about what would happen if the structure of the Titan itself were damaged when at the bottom of the ocean. "Under that pressure, you'd be dead before you knew there was a problem." He said it with a smile.

Personally I don't have a problem with objects being recovered around and off the Titanic, since there are no human remains there anymore.. it's nowhere near as bad or disrespectful as archaeologists digging up ancient graves and removing artifacts from tombs

I try to think about it like this... If I or a family member perished on Titanic (or even survived), I'd want as many artifacts that could be recovered preserved because I wouldn't want myself or a family member & our stories to be forgotten (especially in the future when that entire generation would be gone) — Stories about it help keep people & their memories alive; but, even more-so when you can actually see in-person the artifacts attached to those stories. 🖤
