I used to do this for a living as the owner, but crack sealing was by far the most satisfying and profitable. We used to get 50-80 cents per foot. As fast as you could walk with that " hot box" was like ka-chingo.

I saw Public Works working on the road today doing this and I wondered what it was. Got home and opened YouTube and it was in my recommended. YouTube is good.

I think you have to pack that asphalt from my experience as a finish roller you’re still gonna end up with a crack because the hot asphalt is just going to sink down deeper and deeper and compact itself and only works if you build up a little bit of a ridge mound and then pound it down in there flat by compactor or roller. This crack will be sunk in by at least an inch within a few months.
