Victor Orban puts Hungary first. If only someone like him was prime minister of the UK.

Great interview, I wish the UK had a people and government like Hungary.

What a kind, civilised, educated and intelligent man! In my experience many of these qualities are fairly typical of Hungarians. Thank you for another really interesting interview.

Sovereignty? Try here in Ireland. No currency. No army. No foreign affairs. No borders. No - Ireland is no longer a sovereign country.

We see exactly what's happening in Hungary, the same is happening here in the UK.
Hungary however is lucky, they have Orban, here in the UK, we get globalist after globalist, we haven't left the EU or the corruption involved.
Until we learn to vote outside of the box we can't expect change.

I wish we had an Oban in the U.K. long live Hungary

Excellent. We need more English language access to Eastern European politics, particularly the Vizigrad Group.

Wow I wish my country England looked after its native people like Hungary. We aren’t English anymore. The people were betrayed.

Whatever your opinions and criticisms of the interviewee, you have to be impressed with his grasp of English, his ability to quietly explain his ideas and the historical perspective he brings to the answers. Can you imagine any of our muppets managing anything close ?

“They” don’t hate Hungary (whoever “they” are) but lots of us *DO* like democracy, independent courts, + a free press _ unlike your master Viktor Orban.

Please stop using the terms "gender" and "gender identity". Using them implies an acceptance of the validity of these concepts. People who are so troubled by feelings that they're "in the wrong body" (an impossibility of course) have a form of body dysmorphia, that is, a psychological disorder that requires treatment that helps them to readjust their self-perception - certainly not pretending that "gender identity" is valid, validating their delusions by using "their pronouns" and asking the rest of us to participate in the delusion, and even worse using hormone "treatment" and surgery.

Tremendous RESPECT for a country & people with national self respect for your distinct identity & culture
Victor Orban stood up for Hungary's independence & sovereignty & told Angela Merkel to go to hell when she insisted his country absorb hundreds of thousands of young, male migrants from the Middle East
Don't be bullied by EU diktats...stand your ground !!
Reforming national conservative & English Brexiteer 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿👍🇭🇺

Spiked journalists are quick to identify and condemn homophobia when the target is gender ideologues, but this interviewer, in his entirely uncritical interview, conveniently ignores the Hungarian government's well-documented intolerance of gays and gay rights and the country's national news media equating homosexuality with paedophilia, failing to challenge him on this at all.

What have been the benefits of Brexit for working class British people .

Spiked was set up by Mick Hume, previous editor of 'Living Marxism', after that publication closed down. Brendan O'Neill, once member of the Revolutionary Communist Party, was a regular contributor to Living Marxism. Apparently, he's now a 'Marxist Libertarian', which seems kind of a contradiction.

What would be really interesting and useful on spiked would be to address the main criticisms about Hungary right now... for example, those listed on Wikipedia. Like how they are NOT now an illiberal democracy and on what grounds (presumably false) this claim was made, etc etc etc. Wiki also states Orban has attacked the rights of homosexual people. Tell us more about this and how it isn't the case (if it isn't). It also says that Orban has clamped down on press freedoms. I'd like to know more about the specifics of the programme / direction of travel and more about how it is indeed legitimate (if it is). Very open-minded person here (I don't have Trump Derangement Syndrome, for example, and I voted for Brexit). But properly explaining HOW the things listed are lies (if they are) with evidence would be good!

Nobody “hates Hungary”. In common with most former Soviet bloc countries, it qualifies as a mere flawed democracy. Like Poland, their deep bigotry puts them at odds with Western Europe. Orban, like Trump is an authoritarian, bigoted despot. Admitting Hungary to the EU showed remarkably poor judgement.

Oh dear Brendan! No Hungarian equivalent of Brexit on the horizon! Possible to be sovereign within the EU 😱?! Actually Brexit according to Balazs appears to have thrown the Hungarians under a bus 😱 Hungarians are saying that they (at least) aren’t prepared to cut their own throats - much more sensible to leave that to the British 😂
