As somebody who's been programming for quite a while, I disagree with this. I think that a university course where you learn the theory behind computer science is equally important to learning to actually code. You can't try to go fishing if you haven't learnt yet what a fish even looks like, after all. However, I definitely do agree that you should just start programming and actually do real-word development, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't also do a university course.
