When you first start writing programs resist the temptation to move (g) in more than one direction at a time. If you do this you'll be a LOT more able to spot a crash, because you'll only have to worry about the machine moving in one direction at a time. You can also dry run the program on the monitor to see potential crashes. Go SLOW at first, then amp up your feedrates when you know what you're doing!!!

When I'm typing a positive number it will tell me. Machine limits then show a error with number I used for G01 does that mean I can't go below or above that number.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anybody could give me an idea on how long it would take to get to an adequate level of G-code and CNC programming in order to be hired in the industry?

I ran a HAAS mill many years ago that had a 2" collet on it and all we cut with the machine was wood to make molds. The machine was so damn weak it let the endmill come out of the collet when it ran. What a pierce of crap that was!!! Give me an Okuma any day!

When you have time go to a REAL shop that uses Okuma machines and you'll forget you ever saw that HAAS piece of crap!! I wouldn't own one those things if they gave it to me.
