As a nature photographer I shoot a lot of macro, and I have several macro lenses. Two get the most use though. For travelingbor when I know I will be dealing with hars weather, the Pentax 100mm f2.8 DFA Water resistant. Is my go to lens. However, if I want to go to higher magnification for insects it is the Laowa 100mm 2X f2.8 macro. It is a LOT heavier, but that 2X is magic.

As a hiker who takes photographs to document my adventures (landscapes and geological features, wildlife, trees, wildflowers, close-up of insects and fungi, other hikers in the group and their activities), I carry two lenses on two bodies - 55-300 mm PLM and HD DA 15 mm. Under adverse weather conditions, I use 18-135 mm instead of 15 mm. I will buy 16-50 mm PLM next.

I think the 16-50 PLM wins hands down, it is so versatile.
