That's a bloody good technique.
Thanks a lot for sharing this on Youtube.

Good idea.  I think if a person needed to cut a lot of tubes on every job they could improve on the idea in a few ways.  #1,  Andrew R already made the point that a longer piece of tube, 12",  will give more square results.  #2,  cut piece of tube with the factory edge and glue it on top of the first one to thicken the edge.  It'll help your saw stay on track.  #3,  make a curved shoe for the bottom of your circular saw to guarantee the saw will definitely stay on track.  #4,  put a knob on the hose clamp adjuster so you don't need to use a screwdriver.

Thanks for this YouTube "Tube" video. 😆 Many great tips out there, but this worked best for me since I had to make so many cuts ...it saved so much time for my project! 👍👍👍

Mark length on tube anything straight but bendable around tube on the mark and mark with sharpie and saw it . I've used everything from sheet metal and other metals ( roof flashing works well ) to plastics of all types.

Great TIP You Bet! The tape measure from the clean end never worked. I knew there had to be a better way. Thanks!!!!

I want to know what they cut them with at the factory. I want very clean cuts, and no dust.

So what blade is recommended to get a nice clean edge?

I found it easier to use a table saw, set the fence on the table saw to the length I want, push the tube up against the fence and roll/slide the tube over the blade. Ensure you keep it tight against the fence. Pull the tube back to you, and repeat until you've completed the whole cut. Works very well.

Be careful it has no lean to it. After a few measures and knocks, it makes a great guide.

Watch closely....it wasn't a straight cut....that's why he didn't show you the cut....

I just cut 8 tubes while watching this

With that short of a piece, you won't get a straight cut. You need 12 - 18 inches of tube to get a real straight cut.

To cut out a straight line, cut out a straight line… wait… what?

I always have the habit of glancing at my circular saw blade to make sure the blade guard returns down as I'm setting the saw down. Believe me it doesn't always happen, e.g. a small chunk of wood holds it open.
