You can create this type of "perpendicular chicken-wire" tiling pattern using just a *single* pentagonal shape; however, using 2 complementary shapes, like Ben did here, allows you to create the tiles 2x as fast. But for those who can only afford the silicone for a single mold, then I give some geometry info here. First, let me say that there isn't a *unique* pentagon that does this, but there *is* a relationship between side lengths and angles which must be satisfied. Suppose you want your single tesselating pentagonal tile to have all 5 sides of the same length. In this case, your interior angles (in degrees) *must* be: (114.3, 90, 131.4, 90, and 114.3). If instead you want to let the interior angles determine the side lengths, and you choose "easy" angles such as (120, 90, 120, 90, 120), then you will have 4 sides of equal length and one shorter side whose length is only 73.2 percent of the longer length.

First fill your mold with rice or something similiar to gauge the volume. That way you won't mix up 3 times as much silicone as you need. That stuff is expensive...

The after shot really made me think of Goyte’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” video! This came out so cool looking and probably cheaper than buying pavers. Extra cool that you can make them in custom colors. I’m assuming that would cost a whole lot…if you could even find them in some colors.
