David B. Peden, M.D., MS, FAAAAI, the Andrews Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics; Senior Associate Dean for Translational Research; Chief Research Officer & Director, UNC Clinical Research Alliance; and Medical Director, Center for Environmental Medicine, Asthma and Lung Biology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, presented "Air Pollution Effects on Respiratory and General Health" at University of Louisville Department of Medicine Grand Rounds on March 21, 2024.
Dr. Peden's talk focused on appreciating the impact of air pollutants on asthma, cardiovascular disease and COVID-19 outcomes, discussing the impact of wildfire generated particulate matter on respiratory and cardiovascular outcomes, defining the role of redlining on of systemic health inequities associated with exposure to pollutants, and identifying the role of personal and policy interventions in mitigating the effects of air pollutants on health.
