Do kids need to apply sunscreen?

Q: Should we apply sunscreen for kids ?
A: only if needed. They don’t have to use it on daily basis.
Q: when do they need it ?
A: 1. If they throw up reactions on exposure to sun light
2. If they go for outdoor swimming or sports
3. While going out in scorching sun for vacation or sports day.
Q: Do they have to use it while going to school?
A: Not needed , if they don’t have reaction to sunlight
Q: From which age sunscreen is safe to use ?
A: From 6months of birth
Q: Child safe sunscreens recommendations
A: Go for kids sunscreen, preferably only mineral sunscreens.

Our days were different, these days direct sun exposure is definitely a threat especially where ozone layer depletion is at high, we cannot generalize things, it depends on geography and skin conditions of the individual

I didn't eat a high protein diet too while growing up. I am ensuring my kid is getting her share of protein daily. Forget sunscreen abuse, most people don't even use a moisturiser, let alone a sunscreen.

I believe we Indians are so influenced with western people. Dude, How many percentage of Indians get skin cancer as compared to western people? Don't forget the fact that most Indians don't use sunscreen still our skin cancer rate is lower than them.

I am derma too. And believe me, actually there are not enough sunscreen studies on Indian skin yet or skin of colour.

I started using sunscreen after going to the college. Definitely I will start using sunscreen for my kid as early and as required.

I didn't apply sunscreen as a kid and as an adult now I have severe hyperpigmentation issues, my legs and hand are COMPLETELY different colour than my body, I mean its in chocolate colour while my body is yellow beige. I had to spend 1000s to get my face to match my body, I can't spend that for my hands and legs too. Also, skin cancer is no joke. It isn't just about tanning, most of us don't tan and go back our normal skintone like caucasians, brown skin people actually need more sun protection than any other race. Use common sense and apply sunscreen when needed based on the sun exposure.

Sun screen also prevent skin cancer, sun exposure from our chindhood and now have huge difference it is a good thing if kids also use sunscreen which made for kids

It depends on the place. Places that have ozone holes certainly need sunscreens. Also caucasians have the least amount of melanin, which is why they get skin cancer easily.

I think sunscreen is not for avoiding tan....it is used to avoid skincancer
