Maybe drinking blood is not exactly their most appealing feature, but wow aren't they cute! It's really sad that them, and bats in general, have that many bad superstitions around them.

I wonder if livestock could be vaccinated against rabbies carried by vampire bats. That way, there would be no problem for ranchers, as the blood bats take is minimal compared with the total blood of the cow.

Pretty sure that only 1% of all bats ever have ever been found carrying rabies, and vamps hardly EVER do. The only way they would contract it would be to bite an animal that already carried it which is extremely unlikely. Not a fan of how the video portrayed them as scary evil creatures, they're honestly quite intelligent and social, vamps are known to adopt orphan bat pups and risk their own lives to feed sick or elderly bats that cant safely leave their roosts, and can live for nearly 15 years, sometimes more. As far as biting goes they usually cant consume more than a tablespoon of blood in one sitting, theyre the size of your thumb so they don't nessisarily cause as much damage as this video would have you believe; they rarely if ever bite humans. Considering other threats to livestock, vamps are a miniscule problem, a cow is more likely to catch rabies from a coyote or fox than a bat, lets be honest. It was still a decent video though. I'm terribly sorry for the rant, ignore my prattle. :)

The most interesting thing, vampirism is thought to be a misidentification of rabies, so the idea that the vampire bat spreads rabies is objectively ironic.
