Iyengar embraces yin yoga. As you correct your alignment, you stay, relax into the pose What you however observe is the level of resistance in each pose (level of tightness or stiffness), which reveals your emotional state.

HATHA YOGA

Most forms of yoga in the West can be classified as Hatha Yoga. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, meaning your Ashtanga, vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga classes are all Hatha Yoga. The word “hatha” can be translated two ways: as “willful” or “forceful, ” or the yoga of activity, and as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.

Thank you so much for this! I am very new to yoga, and I just started to notice that there were indeed differences. I love to sit in my poses for awhile, because I have a back injury that I started using yoga to manage. The flows were way too fast for me, and I was getting frustrated with myself. Now that I watched your video I will look for Hatha, Iyengar, and Yin classes. Now, I can focus like I need to, relax, and accept my slower journey with yoga!

Bikram did not found this style : His guru from the Ghosh lineage had taught him, and these 26+2 set has been passed on from generations, he just made it famous in America

Thank you! You have cited each yoga type very clearly and with some interesting facts. I hope someday there will be types of yoga named after good spirited yogi women :)

Thank you for all the informational videos you have up! I have chronic back pain and I’m having a bad flare up right now so I’m not able to do yoga at the moment. After being in this much pain, it’s inspired me to try yoga out to help manage my back pain. The only thing I can do right now is learn, so your channel has been SO helpful! Can’t wait until I feel better to start practicing Asana ☺️
