Jan. 2020 Update: The song I was looking for is "Stories To A Child" by Johnny Rivers from the 1972 LP "L.A. Reggae"! I just tried again with "Shazam" today, and now it worked. Most likely their database has grown, and/or the tune was made available online in the meantime.

So now the search is over!

(My old search note, posted several years ago...:

Wer kennt diesen Titel? Seit vielen Jahren versuche ich schon, die Band und weitere Informationen dazu zu finden, aber niemand, dem ich ihn vorgespielt habe, kannte ihn. Auch „Shazam“ versagt…!

Who knows this song? I’ve sought for years but no one could tell the artist, the record, or give me any other information. No results via „Shazam“ either.

I have recorded this title from the radio (a show called „5 o’ Clock Club" on German NDR) in 1972. Along with it, the following songs were played:

Mean Old World mit Clapton/Allman (vom „Crossroads“ Box-Set); Yobo von Third World War (LP „2“); Baby Listen und Turning the Lights Out von Rare Earth („Epic Forest“); She Got To Move Me von Grand Funk („Phoenix“); Good Old Days von Wild Turkey („Turkey“); Hell Hound von Sir Lord Baltimore („Kingdom Come“); Candy And A Currant Bun von Pink Floyd („The Piper…“); Just One Time von Juicy Lucy; Keeper of the Fire von Poco („A Good Feelin’ To Know“); Rockout, Whatever You Feel Like von Cactus („One Way… Or Another“); Mystery Roach von Frank Zappa („200 Motels“); Hold Your Fire von Patto; Family Affair von Sly And The Family Stone; und Sweet Angeline von Mott The Hoople („Brain Capers“).

Was ich vom Text heraushören konnte, geht so:
The lyrics, as far as I can tell:

Are you for real,
Can you still feel
Anything true and
beautiful?
Where can you go,
Lyin’ so low
Everyone knows
You’re lost to …… (??)

Burnt body of a child
Lyin' in her mother's grave
You JUST GOTTA STOP IT NOW
If only …(??)

Why can't you see
You're never be free
As long as you live
This madness runs
Where can you go,
Lyin’ so low
Everyone, everyone knows
You’re lost to …… (??)

Tellin' stories to a child
Won't change the hand of fate
You JUST GOTTA STOP IT NOW
Tomorrow's gonna be too late...)

The thought just occurred to me, is this an original your looking to get some play out of??? I'm playing a little while myself now. More than six months.(lol) So I've learned a few tricks of the trade along the way.
