I found the inverse of 3x (which is x/3), then I plugged that into f(3x). This gave me f(x). So then I substituted the 6 into f(x) which gave me the same answer. This could work for any value like trying to find f(9) or f(13), etc.

You could also just change x - 6 to (x/3) - 6 so that it turns f(3x) to f(x) and substitute 6 to f(x), which will be (6/3) - 6 = -4

F of 6 is therefore a product of which would relate to (3x2)given is 3 therefore f of 6 is -4, the final solution . This teacher intrigues me so, I am document every problem that makes me think in a possible way . I will be 75 on July 27, education and math still intrigues me !!😮

3x = y => x= y/3

Substituting,
f(y) = (y/3) - 6

Putting y = 6
f(6) = 6/3 - 6 = -4

Or, you could start by finding what f(x) is from f(3x), thus, taking z = 3x => f(z) = z/3 - 6, or (fx) = x/3 - 6 if you want it.
In the end, f(6) = 6/3 - 6 = -4

you can aalso divide every x term by 3 so f(x) will be x/3 - 6 then you can plug in the 6 you will get -4 still

oh that's more direct than how i did it. I found that f(x)=x/3-6 by plugging in the inverse function of 3x into f(3x). then i just evaluated f(6)

It's much clearer to note that 3x=6.
Therefore x = 6/3, so x = 2
Then substitute.
