In this inaugural episode in the Student SEL Series, Maria answer the question, What is Social Emotional Learning. Maria Morrisson Copolillo shares the social emotional learning definition and what social emotional learning for students means. She shares how you can create a supportive learning environment for all students by being intentional about their development. Using the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework, she shares five competency areas: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.

Whether you are teaching in a distance learning, hybrid learning, or in-person learning environment, we hope that these competencies help you support SEL.

A nice sounding commercial, the soft skills were already being taught and there are not as important than real content, at least not at this stage of their lives, typically taught at home by mom and dad. What matters is how is it taught? At what expense and what did schools have to remove to fit this in? This is the core of the issue
