When Corsair offered to lend us a kit of their 128 GIGABYTE DDR4 memory, it was hard to turn them down... But is 128GB of DDR4 really necessary?

I still remember those years when 128 MB RAM used to be considered a lot.

Linus, 128B RAM is used in music production to load large sample libraries (film score production) for a sequencer to have quick access to each sound sample. More RAM allows for larger templates so all sound patches are available within a composer's template allowing the composer quick access to their sound palette. Moreover, 128GB is rarely enough so professionals sometimes use 4-6 or more slave servers each having 128GB RAM in them all running at once.

I think you're brilliant at this computer gig and your video's are top notch. I'm a composer and I'm building some 128GB slave machines. Thank you so much for the great info! You save me money and I'm happy to use your links to make purchases!

Here's what I want for a bloody ram test.
Throw in 4 gigs and play a game whilst streaming or recording 1080p60fps 10k bitrate and having 5-10 chrome tabs open as well as a music player like spotify and skype running a call. Then throw in 8 gigs and do the same... and 16 gigs and do the same.

That's what I use in my everyday life. Not this. I'm a bit tired of overkill stuff. It's fun every now and then to see something crazy like this. But it's just so damn often now that I miss seeing stuff I'm actually considering to buy myself

there is an application for 128Gb RAM - music production. there are these huge sized orchestral virtual instruments and if you want to play them with a midi keyboard without any latency, you need a lot of RAM.
Linus, you should test it.

I'm a tech curious/enthusiast at best, but man, this channel is really good value for the view time. Like 3:15, that's hilarious. Love a channel that can not take itself seriously while delivering proper work.

But what about video rendering? It's like saying that i7 isn't better than i3 because the notepad app opens in the same time for both of these CPU's

Watching this video a year later still brings tears of joy ! 128GB of Power Random Access Memory. Still a great video. Greatest question ever answered.

It feels a bit weird that you ask for likes if we want you to open the box + asking for likes afterwards. I mean of course we want you to open the box! I like the video because I find it entertaining but please stop asking for likes for opening this and that. We watch your stuff because Linus Media Group makes good videos.
