for those confused about electricity terms: think of it like a pipe. Amps is the speed of the water, volts is the width of the pipe (more water moving at once) and watts is the amount of water moving every second. Joules is the amount of water total (which represents electrical energy).

Basically, amps is the amount of "energy" per "packet", volts is the rate "packets" of "energy" are sent, and watts is the rate "energy" is transferred (watts=volts x amps).

Electricity makes a lot more sense if you think about it in terms of coulombs, or packets of charge (groups of electrons). Voltage is the energy that each coulomb carries, and represents the speed of the electrons. Current is the amount of coloumbs passing a point per second, so either having thicker wires or higher voltage means you get a higher current. Multiplying the current by the voltage gives you the electrical power, or how many joules of energy the electricity can transfer per second.

It's a real shame that Electric Expansion got discontinued.

Nice to see some of these mods' features being shown.

Usually if you step the voltage down, a certain device will require a certain power in watts. It will draw the amount of current that it needs from the circuit, but the amps is dependent on the resistance. The other thing you need to take into account is overheating. Amps = heat and thick gauge wires.

1. Ohms law, very useful to know when dealing with electricity, P=VC
2. SI, m=milli=0.001, M=mega=1, 000, 000,
a=amperes=current, V=volts=potential difference, W=watts=power, J= joules=enegery

U know what I see?
I see another Let's play series coming up. Electric Let's Play

watt (power) = Ampere (I) X Volt (V)
with the same amount of power, if you stepdown the voltage, the ampere (amp) will increase and if you stepdown the ampere, the voltage will increase. I like this mod.

Electricity can be thought of kinda like little "packets". Voltage is the amount of energy in these packets and amps are the amount of little packets being sent.

I'd say volts are the *pressure* inside the pipe. If you have a lot of pressure (voltage) it will force faster flow (current, i.e. amperes) through the pipe *depending* on its width.

With that said, every minecraft mod that uses electricity seems to magically force a voltage given a wire type, so in this context it really *does* seem like it is a wire-dependant trait. If only real life would be so easy...

Dire, MJ from buildcraft is Minecraft Joules, MJ from this mod is actually your beloved MegaJoules

If only we could take the Direwolf20 mod pack, merge it with Universal Electricity mod pack, and then add Arse Magica to the mix. Best mod pack ever invented.

there will be one eventually, it will be called "FTB Ultimate" or something to that effect, it will be released when the mods are closer to being done.

I'll try to explain this "electric stuff". :)

Watt is the amount of work that something can do.

Volts is the potential of the energy, or where it wants to flow. It will always flow from a higher voltage to a lower one.

Ampere is the rate of the flow of the electricity, basically how many electrons is traversing the wire.

Watts is then the product of volts and ampere. W = A * V

If you lower the voltage, the more electrons needs to flow though the wire to keep the same watts, and visa versa

i dont even have this mod, but you make everything so interesting.

Voltage is the measurement of power and current is the pressure/force of electricity

The ultimate modpack is going to come out at some point

How did a YouTube comment educate me more than an entire unit on electricity back in my high school physics class?

using this a person could place any number of quantum batboxes behind each machine, and a different channel, each channel would have a different voltage, lower voltages could have a lower number, and vice versa, a simple qbb connected to a transformer connected to another qbb set at a lower frequency, you could have an entire plant powered in one area by several generators leading to one or more qbbs!
