I can confirm, because I was there, last week in Paris at the British Council. The "show" was great! After the Luke's performance, we have been invited to share a glass with Luke and I had the opportunity to have a quick chat with him! 😊👍 And I asked for a picture 😬
Yes, it is incredible how Luke is famous, it is true that a lot of people were waiting for a picture with him or for an autograph!!
I was so happy Luke to meet you in person! But I admit, like you said in your podcast, that it was a little bit strange for me also, to be suddenly just near you, a person that I know very well, but only through my mobile phone on YouTube, FB or Spotify! 😂
I wish you a lot of new moments like that in the future, enjoy, you derserve it!
Thank you again for your work, very useful for learners and pleasant at the same time. 🤗

I've already heard that story, but it's quite interesting. Give us more stories like that, please Luke!

Thank you, Luke, for your podcast. It is a pleasure to listen your stories. In this one, which is actually the second version of that I have heard previously, I picked up a phrase " No, I have to work". Well, so did I too in 1998. I believe I could understand your feeling about concert in Japan. So, thank you for good story with you.

I went to the UK in 2004. On my first night trip I got stuck in the toilet just before I was about to get off the train. I have never seen so many buttons before! I pressed all of them, setting off the alarm. I was terrified, alone, not knowing the language, locked in the toilet...Fortunately a big African man came to rescue me just in time. I spent 3 wonderful years in the UK. Just loving your country and your language 😘

I have almost the same experience as you, but from the side of the parents. My son got mononucleosis at the age of 5. he had a very high body temperature (almost 40C) for several days and the same symptoms. but the worst thing about it was that no doctor knew what it was, and I had to transfer my son to another hospital after 5 useless days of pain, constant injections of antipyretics and my terrible thoughts. Your story reminded me that we all have something in common)

Wow, it’s crazy, but I think I was one of your NOVA students! The video popped up on my home page and I thought you looked familiar…
You were one of the great teachers (NOVA teachers were a mix of all sorts..)! I kept leaning English and now I make sewing tutorials in English. Thank you so much for being a great English teacher! 😊

This is extremely interesting. I was in Japan from September 2002 to August 2003 doing an MSc at GRIPS situated close to Sinjuku, but now located at their own building at Roppongi. I was staying first at a residence in Odaiba, where we travelled on an unmanned train, which goes along the Rainbow Bridge over the Tokyo bay. A wonderful location. After three months, I had to leave that place when my wife joined me about three months after I went there. We moved to an apartment in Nishi-Ojima and I went to and from College by the trains on the Sinju-ku line. We loved the Spring most. The fall was manageable, but the summer and winter were extremely harsh.
It was our first stay in Japan. Japanese people we happened to deal with were very good. I mean they have good human qualities. The landlady was very kind and helpful. My wife became pregnant with our first child while we were there. She was five months pregnant when we returned. Our landlady Sachiko-san was a lovable woman with motherly qualities.
We loved our stay there. I did my studies well. My wife had to visit a doctor at the International Medical Centre for her pregnancy. It cost 12000 yen per visit. It was big money for me who depended on a stipend. I fell ill with an attack of hyperthyroidism. It affected my health badly. Thanks to the doctors who did the perfect diagnosis and prescribed the best medicines, my health became normal in no time. Even after 20 long years, I have trouble with my thyroid glands. We both went to a dental clinic call Suzuki Dentist, I suppose. Close to our college then.
It's now 20 years and the fillings still last.
Our experience with the doctors were very pleasant.
I had contact dermatitis issue too. The lady doctors at the Dermatology Clinic were excellent. How kind and nice they were. I had these heal issues when I was there. They spoilt my one year long stay to a little extent.
My memories of Japan still live with me. I have travelled to Thailand, the UAE and Switzerland, but Japan is exceptionally good.
I appreciate all who helped us live there happily. I have aong story, but nobody will want to read that much.
Thanks Luke. I enjoy your podcast, which helps learn (or acquire) the English language.
This episode is interesting to me personally as I did experience the Japanese way of life for a year.
Thanks

I was at the British Council for the second time to hear this terrible story. Luke is not only a great teacher ( I am a premium lepster) but the way he tells stories is literally captivating and funny. How talented he is ! Also Thank you to the BC for the friendly atmosphere created at the time, all of this making me more and more fan of the British culture and humor, so unique, so British !
