Those Korean war dogfights are the best of both worlds - Generally no air-to-air missiles yet (with possible exception of early sub-sonic types suitable v slower bombers) - just WW II style gun kill dogfights but with the improved climbing, speed and maneuverability of early sub-sonic jets! Really one of my favorites - thanks LS!

On the plus side, the ground target on the ground was manned by some really grounded dudes who definitely stood their ground...and didn't get ground up.

Long Shot thinks, "Now lets see... I'm out of rockets, so how can I take care of that enemy supply train... "🤔🤔🤔
"Wait, here comes a bandit and I have an idea that's SO crazy that it just might work!" 😆😆😆

I really enjoy your vids and the commentary. There were a number operational straight-wing jets that predated the F-86 (the P-80 Shooting Star and F2H Banshee in the mid-1940s, for example), so the F-86 and MiG-15s were not quite the first operational jets. They're considered the first swept wing designs, though. Please post more. :)

Briefing Officer:
"Yes, Longshot, that's right. Your mission for today is to make the ground target, that's on the ground, go up in the air."

If they have it available on DCS, you should look at getting into the Grumman F-9 F Panther - the US Navy's first competitive (meaning it could fight on an even keel with adversarial country's land-based) carrier-based fighter jet. Of try the FH-1 Phantom - the actual first operation fighter jet for the US Navy - it should be interesting to see, especially if you're interested in Korean War era fighters. The F-86 of the USAF came on relatively late in the conflict, while the Panther held the line until the F-86 arrived on scene. Check it out - I'd love to watch you do that video!

Does slipping the a/c help to keep the bandit in front of you when he tries to reverse? Tried it?

Question L.S. - Could these early jets better survive taking a few rounds because of less sophisticated design, heavier armor or less powerful munitions - or a combination of the 3?
(btw - can't thank you enough for this beautifully assembled content!)
