How the fuck do people think Santa delivers all the toys in one night if they don't understand time zones?

The best part of that video was reading all the comments! So many arguing about this and that, what you should do with it, how you got the password, why it was thrown out with such a simple fault, etc. It was quite amazing and amusing!!!

I think the problem is that in part, YouTube displays the upload date in the user's local time zone. For me (UTC+1), certain videos show as 'Published on Mar 31, 2017', this one included.

I remember hearing a comment from the manager of the San Francisco Giants (baseball team here in the US) that indirectly implied to me that they operate on a constant time zone, without regard to where they happen to be in the country that particular day. Makes sense for anybody whose job has them jumping between time zones every few days. Trying to keep up with local time zones would cause no end of confusion and miscommunication.

Americans come running in yelling EST and PST and I have no idea what they're talking about, can they not just say -8 GMT

<nitpick> GMT is NOT the same as UTC, both are kept within 1 second of each other, by means of leap seconds </nitpick>

Time zones are a relic in the age of global communication, just go atomic time for everyone.(a few seconds ahead of UTC due to UTC having leap seconds for fluctuating rotational speed of the earth, leap seconds cause issues in computing time stamps.)

Fairly small nitpick, but UTC is not "the same as" GMT. The M in GMT indicates that it follows mean solar time, whereas UTC is an atomic standard. Since the Earth's rotation isn't entirely uniform, mean solar time drifts around atomic standards, whereas UTC has leap seconds inserted now and then so that they don't drift too far apart. Small differences for most practical purposes, but nevertheless.

Also, I myself tend to avoid using the term "GMT" since I've seen people being confused about what it means and looking at current wall time at Greenwich, which is also affected by DST. Using UTC tends to avoid any such confusions.

If you want to go to Kiribati, book your trip soon. They are slowly going underwater from sea level rise.

If your timezone is incorrect you may need to replace your flux capacitor.

Wish we could all just switch to UTC as our local time around the globe and be done with timezones all together.

One big thing you didn't mentioned is that in many (NOT ALL) have daylight saving time in the summer which screws more with timezones. We in Europa turned the clocks one hour ahead last saturday

I couldn't stop laughing at this! Serious burn for those that can't use a Google search to tell what time it is in Australia, nice job Dave! 👍

So is the scope in the video actually yours by other means or did you borrow it :)

I find it odd to have 27 time zones in a 24 hour world?

"What time is it?" has a very complex answer. Remember there is no such thing as simultaneity. The published date is only an approximation.

I can't believe this is a serious video.
