The reason why many people in ex French colonies dont like France today, is probably because the French still involves in the countries internal affairs although they are not colonies any longer. We have many examples on that in some countries in Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Mali, Central Republic Africa, Caribbien, etc. The British on the other side, are not involved in ex colonies and left them alone after colonization, except for a few commonwelth countries. My opinion.

I remember the news footage of the Ethiopian Airlines plane that had been hijacked and had to ditch the aircraft in the sea near the beach of the Comoros in 1996. Holiday makers and locals helped in the rescue of the 50 survivors. 125 died. Not a nice story but I think it was my first time learning about these islands in the Indian ocean.

I hope to visit someday. There is also an island called Mayotte. I think it used to be part of the Comores.
