I spent like 20 mins with the video paused trying to figure out why the bg wasn't visible and then made a new file only to find out later in the vid that I needed to untick that gosh damn transparency option hahaha. I'm glad that I know what did it now though, thank you :)

When you say diffuse lighting isnt a physical property, so it wouldnt work in cycles, what does that mean? What is it about cycles that's different from EEVEE that makes this happen?

So that's why my lighting's never right and my scenes are always overexposed as that dress photo a decade ago!
