I have a RWD SR Model 3 2024 / Highland and I agree on every point you’re making. I experience those issues often. I can add more to the list:

1) Turn indicators are terrible in roundabouts, as you’re distracted by finding them when exiting instead of looking for cyclists/pedestrians, and other cars. That’s a huge problem in many European countries.

2) Autopilot doesn’t adjust the speed when a new speedsign is detected - it just ignores it, so you have to manually adjust to the new speed with the scroll buttons, or deactivate and reactivate manually. And it disables when you change lanes. Those are normally basic features included for adaptive cruise control. According to Tesla you need a 3000€ software upgrade for that.

3) The glass gets HOT if you drive in the sun, and you will feel that on your head (regardless of AC).

4) The charging port doesn’t unlock along with the car, like any other EV we had. You have to manually unlock it in the app. That may seem like a small thing, but it doesn’t make any sense, if the car detects you near the car and it’s not charging.

However, most of the above is fixable with OTA updates, and probably will be. And value for money is just unbeatable. Compare to the RWD SR to any other 40000€ car, not just other EVs. If you can live with the qirks, buy this car. It’s awesome.

Thanks for the objective assessment, based on my few test drives with Teslas I can agree with everything you mentioned here.

The issues you mention are right on. I live in Canada and have to deal the same issues. The one other issue that irritates me is poor auto wipers. I had rain sensors on my other cars and it just worked. The ghost breaking you mentioned is annoying so I have stopped using cruise control. As it just breaks fairly hard for no reason. I have had my model for 9 months and I will replace it with an Ioniq 5 in a few years. Or maybe something else that has come to the market.

i agree with you, turn indicator on the steering wheel is the dumbest implementation in decades

You mention the need to use the screen for everything but don’t forget how good the voice control is. That includes the wipers - but a stalk would still be so much better.

Great review Chris 🙂 I want to change my actual EV, the TM3 Highland is on the list, I had a very long test drive, the cons are mostly the same as yours to be honest. Tesla are very cool and nice cars, as to be super efficient, but some snags are sometimes very annoying. But the ride is fantastic, so I have to wrap my mind around it

It seems that you have awaken the wrath of some Tesla non-objective fanboys. And they dare to speak about "nitpicking".... funny 😅

Pretty much the same stuff we encountered 3 years ago when test driving a Model 3. Back then there wasn’t even a top-down obstacle view. Lack of front parking camera and lack of HUD (or any dashboard) were the biggest red flags for us. And VW felt better to drive. I guess it’s the same sporty vs confortable thing. Plus my wife hated single pedal driving. Other cars give you two modes. Tesla forces you to single pedal drive. Car just felt bad in test drive.

You can control the distance in front by clicking right/left the right wheel (set between 2 and 6 )

The most annoying thing is the turning circle. Making U-turns and navigating in tight parking lots is inconvenient.

Love your content!! I just want you to make make your videos in 4K instead of 1080p… I mean all smartphones today can even record in 4K

Some valid comments, but you should try to use voice control on this car. It is quite good.

You don't need to justify it to avoid the hate from the Teslarati you know, kind of felt like for each of your points you were trying to cover your judgement from the potential hatred from the Teslarati don't worry about it just state your point and reasons for it.

You pointed out exactly the main flaws of this car. Phantom breaking is THE biggest annoyance for me at the moment. Potentially the SW updates will fix this, but lately it has only gotten worse- not better. I just drove almost 5000 km in Europe and cruise control / auto pilot is unusable due to phantom braking. It is supposed to be Tesla’s flagship feature, but it’s horrible. Come on Tesla, you can do better.

I’ve encountered the same cruise control issue on MG4 where car in different lane causes slowdown. Obviously this and other software issues can and will be fixed. Hope you’re reporting them. Hardware Stalk buttons are a problem, but it might well be software enhancements make them less necessary, even redundant over time eliminating the issues.

The personal experiences and dislikes in this video are consistent with many other similar videos for this car.
Please add entry and exit for vehicles you test. I.E. How easy or difficult is it to access the front seats if you are tall, short or elderly tall or short. Currently driving a Kia Soul because we, as seniors, have easy ingress/egress to/from the seat pad. It's precisely why the ID.4 has risen to the top of our EV acquisition list.

Never going to buy a car without stalks for indicator and windshield wipers.

I apologise, and I appreciate your video. However, this is just my personal opinion. To me, these are merely minor complaints. You can get used to these issues, and they will diminish over time. These are good inventions, and of course, nothing is perfect. Many problems will likely be resolved with future software updates. That said, there is still a major issue—cabin noise! It was terrible before, and though they've improved outside noise reduction, the road noise above 70 km/h is still far too loud, with sound getting trapped inside. This makes long-distance highway travel quite difficult. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about noise, but we could expect better, especially with improved insulation around the rear wheels.

I could be wrong but I thiiiink you “resume” by pressing the road sign with the speed at the top of the screen?
